That statement is followed by a key indicating what each letter stands for on the map. The key concludes with:

If the enemy should be obstinate in the defense of the Retrenchment then Approaches Q may be run at each extremity of it and Breaches made by the assistance of the two Battery's 11.22; The Battery L keeping a continual fire which Line when taken is a Parallel ready made against the Place. If it should still hold out then the same approaches must be continued in the same manner by [sap] untill the Reduction of the Place.
