Description

Slag is the by-product of the smelting or iron ore. As the smelting process nears it's conclusion, the ore's impurities rises to the surface of the molten iron. Different smelting processes produce varying types of slag. In the 1880's it was common for slag to be grounded up and used in the production of glass.
