Dear Henrietta,

It has been more than two hours that I mailed a letter to you.  I feel that I am talking to you when I am writing.  That helps to make this miserable day go quicker.  I have not felt worse in the last few years.  Isn't it the rotten luck that I would get one of my damned colds just when I desire particularly to feel good and efficient.

I don't suppose that I should burden you with the recitals of my troubles.  But I know that you will sympathize with me.  You cannot do that unless you are aware of the condition.  Therefore I write two letters in the same day to impress it upon you.  Then I will know that when I feel putrid (!) you are thinking of me.

I haven't done much this morning outside of running a few errands addressing a large number of envelopes and take Bromo-quinine.

I hope that you did not catch the same cold that I did.  But I do not think that it was the ride that I took with you that gave me the cold.  It was riding in that open buggy with any coat on,

                                                              Love,

                                                                         Frank (signed)
