Arch 1960- 1969

The arch before the school was built. 1960-1969.

The “Arch” is an important landmark for Ramapo College and is the symbol of the school. There are ceremonies and events that are done where the arch is the main focus. Every year the school has a Founder’s Day that is located by the arch. There is the Arching Ceremony when people who are knew to the campus go through the arch form the Bradley Center and shake the current college president’s hand. The Arching Ceremony then happens in reverse when commencement happens. This time students come from the main building through the arch to the Bradley Center. In the fall the arch holds the student involvement fair. If people are looking for a job the school has a site called the Archway that can help a person find a job. It is located in the college's grove and is the classical style red stone arch with brick support. It was moved to this location from the courtyard of Theodore Havemeyer, who lived on Madison Avenue in New York City around 1916. The arch is a focal point for the school as it is their logo. If a person gets letters or other correspondence from the school it will have an arch on it. If a person buys a shirt or other objects from the bookstore it will also have the school logo on it.  The Ramapo arch is a symbol that the school is mainly known for.
