The Anisfield School of Business is the newest building for the schools within the college. 

In the beginning there was three schools.

1.   School of Human Environment, which would use people, resources, and institutions for their majors. The major programs were:

  • Environmental Science

  • Urban Studies

  • Economics

  • Sociology

  • Urban History

  • Biology

  • Chemistry

  • Mathematics

  • Business Administration

  • Public Administration

2.   The School of International Studies focused primarily on Europe and Latin America. The programs were:

  • Comparative Literature

  • History

  • Anthropology

  • International Relations

Asian and African studies were still in development when this school was first established.

3.   The School of American Studies focused on American experience, connecting it to European and African influences. The programs were:

  • Literature

  • History

  • Fine Arts

  • Psychology

  • Political Science

The next three schools were established after the college opened.

4.   The School of Theoretical and Applied Sciences, it opened up in 1974 and it had a fully equipped science facility. The programs were a broad range of sciences, mathematics, and paramedical fields. These programs were no longer under the school of Human Environment.

5.   The School of Contemporary Arts opened in 1975 and it offered programs in fine arts and communications arts. Any program that was related to this school, but was in a different school was added to the School of Contemporary Arts.  

6.   The last school was the School of Humanistic Studies it was a small program of seminars that discussed both classical and modern, Eastern and Western. As the school developed programs were added :

  • History of Science

The schools have changed over time to meet the needs of the students. There are now five schools within the college.

1.   Anisfield School of Business it was established in 1979. The programs are:

2.   School of Contemporary Arts it was established in 1970. It is located in the Berrie Center.
