The purpose of this site is to show how the changing culture of the times influenced the clothes people wore in the town of Mahwah, New Jersey. By using primary sources and applying secondary source information to them it becomes clear to see how certain factors strongly effected the fashion of each era. These factors include but are not limited to the culture, the economy, and the abundance of materials. The photos are of whoever could be accurately dated and easily visible with what they are wearing from the town of Mahwah. If the picture was too blurred or unable to accurately tell which era they are from, it was omitted. This is not a detail study, but a survey of styles over a broad period of time.
