Music of 1919

There were not many notable events in music in 1919, but there still were some important ones.

On January 18th, The pianist Paderewski becomes Prime Minister of Poland. Paderewski was a musical favorite across the world, as well as an accomplished politician.

On May 3rd, The National Association of Negro Musicians is established in Washington, D.C. under the leadership of Nora Holt and Henry Grant. The National Association of Negro Musicians is one of the oldest organizations in the United States dedicated to the preservation, encouragement, and advocacy of all genres of the music of African-Americans.

There was also a large variety of popular music published in 1919, in all sorts of genres. Classical music was really big at this time, as well as Opera, Musical Theatre, and Jazz.
